The owner of 16 Cross St., New Canaan, Conn., has filed a special permit application to construct a multi-story mixed-use building at the property, where New Canaan Lawn Equipment Inc. and Lisa's Classic Cuts are currently located. The United States Postal Service denied Tuesday afternoon that it ever negotiated with a local developer to move the New Canaan Post Office to 16 Cross St., according to USPS spokesman Christine Dugas.
