As local commuter rail lines anticipate final delivery of their latest high-tech train cars, several of those units have already gone into use on Metro-North Railroad's New Canaan branch, which runs primarily between Stamford and New Canaan. The new train cars, Kawasaki-manufactured M8 units, go for a little over $2 million apiece.
