New rail cars begin service on New Canaan Branch

Using the backdrop of a quick ride on a Metro-North New Canaan branch train from the Springdale neighborhood of the city up to the line's terminus and back, Gov. Dannel P. Malloy celebrated the arrival of new train cars on the route and discussed his ambitious plan for upgrading how state residents travel. The new hardware is meant to offset increased ridership, which the state Department of Transportation has projected will balloon by 44 percent on the New Canaan branch in the next 15 years.
