Up a goal in the second period the Darien defense had its work cut out for itself after two penalties gave rival New Canaan a 5-on-3 power play. The Blue Wave responded by first shutting down the Rams attack for two minutes and then by scoring a back breaking goal when Herbert Hazelton's tallied off a beautiful pass from Tiger Sullivan almost immediately after the teams returned to even strength.
