Set for March 5, Giving Day is a 24-hour period of online donations through www.FCGives.org that aims to raise $1 million for local nonprofits. New Canaan nonprofits registered to date include: Kids Empowered by Your Support ; The New Canaan Historical Society; New Canaan Land Conservation Trust; Southern Connecticut Storm Special Hockey, Inc.; and Strays & Others Inc. On last year's Giving Day, 9,211 online donors gave more than $620,000 to 267 Fairfield County nonprofits all in just 24 hours.
