Winter Weather Advisory Issued For New Canaan, 6 Inches Of Snow Possible

Fairfield County will usher in the start of spring with as much as 6 inches of snow on Friday, according to the National Weather Service. Snow is expected to begin mainly after noon on Friday, according to the National Weather Service, with high temperatures between 33 and 35 degrees.

Making a New Friend

Samantha Ryan, 16, of Westport today makes a friend with a dog up for adoption at Bridgeport Animal Control, 236 Evergreen St., where she went to photograph animals on behalf of Westport Animal Sheler Advocates , The Westport group is aiding in finding homes for the animals and Samantha helped out by photographing them for WASA's website and Facebook page as part of a project at St. Luke's School in New Canaan where she is a student. As this dog did not have a name, she was officially given the name of Sammie/Samantha.

A New Canaan woman told police she was trying to get something from her purse and took her eyes off the road for a second before she hit a van, driven by Animal Control Officer Mary Ann Kleinschmitt, New Canaan police said. According to police, Kleinschmitt, 62, said she had pain on the front of her head and neck pain from the 11:18 a.m. accident on Friday.
